Husky Injection Molding Systems is set to create a new medical and specialty packaging business unit, following the acquisition of medical and closure mold maker Schottli.

The new business unit will use Schottli technology, capabilities of Husky's mold making facilities in Austria and Czech Republic, along with aftermarket tooling and services, and Hylectric system platform.

Husky's former customer support vice president Steve Lawrynuik will serve as the vice president for the new business, according to the company.

Husky Injection Molding Systems president and CEO John Galt said, "The creation of a dedicated medical and specialty packaging business will allow Husky to provide greater focus on these core markets and offer customers a complete solution, including mold, machine, hot runners, controllers and aftermarket services."

Husky, which supplies injection molding equipment and services to the plastics industry, has manufacturing facilities in Canada, US, Luxembourg, Austria and China.
